If you are experiencing the following error with the VST update:

"Unable to get the name of the [Product Name].dat file"

Please do as follows:

Download the necessary Spectrasonics Updater AND Spectramove.exe.
First, run Spectramove and choose to MOVE the data (.dat) file to the same location where it is currently located
(this re-writes the corrupt Registry entry). Secondly, run the Updater, following its prompts.

Within Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins. (the Updater creates this file structure).
Cut and paste the updated Spectrasonics .dll files and .dat shortcuts within C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins
to the actual Vstplugins folder you are currently using for your sequencer. (If you are using Sonar or Project 5,
you will want to run Cakewalks Adaptor 4 again)

Description TRILOGY 1.2 VST WINDOWS UPDATE SUMMARY 07/04

(Compatible with Windows VST hosts, tested within Cubase SX & SX2, Logic 5.5.1,
Acid Pro 4.0, Orion Pro 5, Fruityloops Studio 4.x, SAWStudio, Tracktion, Muzys, V-STack, Chainer, PlogueBidule, JeskolaBuzz, Ableton Live 4, also compatible with Sonar 2.1 and higher, and Project 5, using Cakewalk VST Adapter 4)

The 1.2 update includes a powerful new feature for modern music production. Both Atmosphere and Trilogy now support host tempo LFO sync, which allows LFO rates to be locked to musical values. When the SYNC button is ON, the rates of the LFO modulation are shown in rhythmic values (1/16, Dotted, Triplets, etc) To hear the effect, you must have LFO modulation assigned as a source to a destination (Pitch/Filter/Amp/Pan) in the MODULATION MATRIX. When you experiment with LFO sync mode, remember that LFO 1/2 will retrigger with each note received, and LFO 3/4 are free running.

Additionally, there are platform specific bug fixes and enhancements described in the following sections of this document.

THE PLUG-IN UPDATER AND MOVING THE .DAT FILE

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you run the updater it installs the .dll file and creates a Shortcut to the previously installed .dat file, into the VstPlugIns folder(s), which is why its necessary to always run the updater after a first time installation.
(If you are a new user, please see the information in the Users Guide on how to install onto Windows from the CD-ROMS that come in the product box.)

If you'd like to have the .dat file located somewhere else, you can create a Shortcut to it in the Plug-In folder for your sequencer, after relocating the .dat file to the new desired location. If you don't have the .dat file installed, or a shortcut to it, the plug-in won't be able to find the presets and you'll get an error message when opening the Spectrasonics plug-in in your host.

To make a Shortcut to the .dat file, RIGHT CLICK on the original .dat file, then choose Send to and select Desktop (create shortcut). Remove Shortcut to from the file name then cut (Control+X) and paste (Control+V) the file into your sequencers VstPlugIns folder.
Once you have the files installed properly, you can open the plug-in within your host and begin the authorization process as described in the Users Guide. (Applicable to first time users only)

Instructions are included with this release.
